Simple, Clear and Precise 10.1

In the sciences, one must communicate one's ideas, methods and data simply, clearly and precisely, like a cooking recipe. To emphasize this, students participated in a design activity, using colored geometric blocks. One member of a small group, the DESIGNER, arranged the blocks into a pattern. The COMMUNICATOR then was set the task of explaining that design to a third team member working behind a partition (so the COMMUNICATOR could not see what they were constructing). The BUILDER was then to attempt to reproduce the DESIGNER's block configuration based on the COMMUNICATOR's explanation alone.

Thus the challenge of writing in science.
