Before launching into our unit on water and weather, students were to imagine that they could shrink so small that they could see the ultimate building blocks of water, when, presumably, water is no longer wet. Here is a selection of their ideas, replete with partial understandings and misconceptions, the revealing of which was the point of the activity.
