Photos (top to bottom): photo1: one of Steve's favorite haunts in Prague, the Valdštejn Gardens, where scenes from Amadeus was filmed; photos 2&3: on my last night in Prague, Steve & I indulged in dinner on the Vltava River, next to the Kafka Museum; photos 4-7: from the Charles Bridge over the Vltava, and the St. John of Nepomuck, which is rubbed for good luck, thus the glistening polish; photos 8-10: from the deck outside my 4th floor room in the former Grand Hotel, now a dormitory room at the Leysin American School (tuition for LAS, a boarding school offering the IB Diploma, is a mere $65K/year).

It is disconcerting how quickly the summer is passing, having already completed by first Endicott teaching gig in Prague, now perched in the Alps preparing for the next.

The cohort in Prague was small, only five in the group, but exceptionally warm and probing. I thoroughly enjoyed the week, and word is that I can expect the same here in Leysin.

How nice to be greeted so warmly by last summer's students; many familiar faces, many hugs.

I'm typing from a corner room overlooking Leysin and down into the Rhone Valley, anticipating a much needed night's sleep in the cool, clean mountain air. No planes, no trains, no homework, no alarms.
